Good day,
I am currently using OpenDNS and considering moving to something else. What I am looking for is the following: Custom filtering categories with specific whitelisting domains. I would like to block Video and picture sharing and yet allow youtube, pinterest and some other sites on as as needed basis. I do have a child at home whom I am looking to protect her as well as anyone whom connects to my home network. Also, I have many devices within my home which connect via WiFi as well as my TV, game console and phone system.(Ooma). Which plan will I be able to use if I switch over to your product? I would place your DNS on the router and have it distribute it to all the other devices.Thank you for your help,
The basic plan gives you all the control you need. You can pick the categories and whitelist/blacklist the domains as needed.
I would recommend that one to get started.
thanks!
In my case, I would have only 1 device is that correct? Since it would be placed on the router? A device would not be all the individual smart devices, TV’s, electronic devices, game consoles and the such correct. If it is, what happens when I have more then 20 items connected, Does the 21st item not become protected? Please explain. Also, I will assume that all the filters will work with IPv6 as well as IPv4?
Lastly, can I try the basic plan for a week before committing to your product?
Thank you for your quick response to my first question. It has been 2 days and I still have not heard back from OpenDNS with an issue I am having.
Thank you,
RichHi Rich
The devices would be based on the devices on the network, not just the router. The team is pretty flexible with the utilization, yes the 21st device would get picked up. What might help is if you engage the team directly at support@cleanbrowsing.org, they can help answer your questions about the plans and help with getting a trial set up.
