NSFW Reddit Blocking

Hi there,
I had a request that I thought might be possible.
I understand that there are currently two main adult content filters, one which is just adult content and one which is aimed at blocking all “mixed-sites”.
I was wondering if it would be possible for the “adult” block to block NSFW Reddit pages. There are large lists of them on Reddit that I won’t post here.
Is that something that would be at all possible?
Thank you so much for the service that your provide!
Nope, unfortunately, it is not possible. However, we do block images/gifs on NSFW reddits on the adult filter.
To fully block it you need to use the Family Filter as Reddit doesn’t provide a way to restrict only NSFW reddits.
My theory is that NSFW Reddit pages are only accessible if you are logged in. At least that is what I have read. However, it seems the login page is not targetable for DNS blocks without blocking Reddit itself. Maybe this will spark other ideas.
Ideally Reddit had some sort of safe mode like YouTube etc. Would love to hear about any other options and approaches to a Reddit safe mode.
Not true, you just cannot search for nsfw subreddits if you know the r/path then it’s just click away to access.
Looks like you are right. No clear way to change with DNS for now. I wonder how CleanBrowsing determines NSFW Reddit pages in order to block images and GIFs on them. I would think more could be blocked in those instances to render those pages inaccesible.
I think the images are hosted on a different domains, so they are blocked.
I may be missing something, but images on NSFW subreddits don’t seem to be blocked. Using the Family Filter, Reddit is not avalilable. On the Adult Filter (as fdm pointed out) you can enter the URL for subreddit and browse to it. Once there, images are not blocked.
The ones we can block, we do (but not all of them). If you need to block Reddit, you need to switch to the Family Filter – where it is fully blocked.
If you only want to block NSFW subreddits, you need to do via an extension. Unfortunately, Reddit does not makes it easy to offer that level of control via DNS.
thanks!
